150/250V RFOU(c) S2/S6 marine Cable Fixed installation for instrumentation ,communication, control and alarm system in both EX -and safe areas,Meets the MUD resistance requirement in NEK TS 606,Marine For fixed wiring installations on Oil and Gas Rigs, Shipboard and other marine applications requiring screened cable for EMC.the bedding or the inner sheath of the cable needs to be pressed. Another requirement is that the RFOU cable outer sheath of the cable must be made of an elastomer, a thermoplastic or a thermoset material.
The RFOU (c) S2 S6 is oil resistant which means the cable can withstand aggressive oil containing substances. These substances will not affect the cable, the functionality of the cable will be maintained and the risk of irreparable damage is lower.
Mud resistant cables like the RFOU (c) S2 S6, need to have an outer sheath which is composed of materials that can withstand the negative effects of mud. This is common for cables which meet the NEK 606 standards. These cables have an outer sheath which meets the test requirements as stated in the IEC 60092-359.
Cables used to be responsible for spreading fire. The RFOU (c) S2 S6 is flame retardant. This means that this cable is designed in a way that it will not spread fire. Cables with these advantages are often used in buildings and at locations where people live, work and travel / move.
The RFOU (c) S2 S6 is a flexible cable, ideal for mobile use. This means that the cable can be used several times and can be applied for temporary purposes. In addition, it is easy to handle and pliant making it easy and compact to store. Its flexibility is also an advantage for small-spaced fixed installations as smaller bends can be made. Due to the flexibility of the cable, it is easier and faster to install, which saves more time and reduces costs.
Halogen-free cables such as the RFOU (c) S2 S6 do not produce toxic gases in case of fire. This means that the cable does not contain fluorine, chlorine, bromine, iodine or astatine which causes toxic gases during a fire. Toxic gases can damage equipment and limit chances for people to escape because gases are deadly. This cable has a higher fire safety, causes less damage in case of a fire and is environmentally-friendly.
The advantage of a tinned copper wired braiding is that it protects the RFOU (c) S2 S6 from outside electromagnetic fields. This kind of armouring is widely applied to flexible cables where corrosion occurs due to (weather) conditions, like in the offshore. An additional advantage of the TCWB armouring is that it strengthens the cable.
