thermocouple extension cable is a special type of wire used to extend the cold junction of a thermocouple away from high temperatures and at a relatively stable temperature. Essentially a thermocouple compensation wire consisting of two different metals. Its thermoelectric properties are substantially the same as those of the main thermocouple in a certain temperature range. By connecting the compensation wire to the cold end of the thermocouple, the temperature signal output from the thermocouple can be transmitted to the control room away from tens of meters and sent to the display instrument or the control instrument.

The purpose of using thermocouple extension cable:

(1) Move the reference end of the thermocouple from a high temperature to a place where the ambient temperature is relatively stable.
(2) Saving a large amount of valuable and rare metal materials for manufacturing hot electrodes.
(3) Use compensation wires for easy installation and wiring.
(4) Replacing the hot electrode with a compensation wire with a larger diameter and a larger conductivity can reduce the resistance of the thermocouple loop, which is advantageous for measurement and automatic control.
Pay attention to the following points when using thermocouple extension cable:

(1) Various compensation wires can only be used with the corresponding type of thermocouple, that is, the thermoelectric characteristics of the various thermocouples and the compensation wires used must be the same within the specified temperature (0~100 °C).

(2) The temperature of the compensation wire and thermocouple connection point shall not exceed the specified service temperature.
(3) When the compensation wire is connected with the thermocouple and the meter, the positive and negative poles cannot be connected incorrectly, and the two pairs of connection points should be at the same temperature.
